This initial cash injection of $25 million is set to cover various essential expenditures, including employee salaries, contractor fees, and crucial asset maintenance.

Masuzyo Ndhlovu, the Corporate Communications director at Vedanta Resources, confirmed that the company’s technical team is already on-site, working closely with current management to assess KCM’s condition and prepare for operations under Vedanta’s leadership.

However, the complete transition of control hinges on obtaining court approval for the proposed arrangement with creditors and resolving ongoing legal disputes.

Once the transition is finalized, Vedanta has made several promises, including the reinstatement or appointment of a new Board of Directors, a 20% salary increase for all direct KCM employees, and a one-time bonus of K2,500 for all direct employees and management.

Moreover, Vedanta has ambitious plans for KCM’s future, intending to inject $1.3 billion into the company for expansion and modernization, with the aim of increasing annual copper production from 70,000 to 300,000 tonnes in the medium term.

Vedanta has also reaffirmed its commitment to Zambia’s copper industry, aligning its goals with the nation’s target of achieving an annual copper production of 3 million tonnes by 2033.

In addition to these commitments, Vedanta reiterated its pledge to provide $250 million in support to local suppliers and contractors.

Ndhlovu stressed Vedanta’s commitment to sustainable, long-term growth, emphasizing its dedication to delivering value to shareholders and the wider stakeholder community.

Judge Michael A. Usan signed off on Drake’s motion to avoid the deposition … tossing the court’s previous order calling for him to sit down later this month and answer questions.

Defense attorney Mauricio Padilla, who reps suspect Dedrick Williams, previously argued Drake needed to be present for questioning due to an old beef between XXX and him.

Drake’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, though, told the court Drizzy has no relevant information to add to the case — and the judge agreed.

It is possible Padilla could convince the judge there’s some other cause for Drake to be deposed, and get a new subpoena — but with the trial already underway, the clock’s ticking.

For now, though, Champagne Papi won’t be involved.

CCTV Footage Of AKA’s Assassination has been making rounds globally ! The video clearly shows the rapper hugging and talking to his former manager and friend Tibz before they are both shot dead moments later. 

The video confirms reports from police which state that “Information at police’s disposal at this stage indicate that the men were walking towards their vehicle from a restaurant when they were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range. The suspects are reported to have fled from the scene on foot.” 

The police also further state that “ Both victims were declared dead at the scene. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage and police investigations are ongoing.” Which is attested by the video which clearly shows AKA falling and instantly bleeding. 

His family is said to be going through a really hard time with a press release which read “ It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son, and confirm his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of February 10, 2023. We are awaiting further details from the Durban Police.”

KwaZulu-Natal police chief Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said the gunman had approached AKA from behind and shot him at close range in the side of the head.

A second gunman then started firing to deter onlookers from responding to the “hit”, he added.

One of these rounds killed AKA’s friend, celebrity chef Tibz Motsoane.

The shooting occurred outside a restaurant in the coastal city of Durban on Friday night.

While police work to establish a full picture of what happened to AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, his father has asked people to stop speculating on social media.

Tony Forbes says the family are focusing on giving their son “a dignified send-off”, and he has thanked the many well-wishers whose support is “making it easier to cope”.

He has also paid tribute to Motsoane, saying he was “like a brother” to AKA.

No arrests have yet been made.

But police say they know the identities of the “two shooters”, and are still checking the identities of all of those at the scene in Durban that night.

Investigators are now using the suspects’ data to piece together their communication and movements in the run-up to the killings, Gen Mkhwanazi has told the Newzroom Africa TV channel.

“We know that the aim was to first kill AKA, and the second suspect could have killed any other [person] because they fired a couple of shots – so anybody who was on the way could have been hit,” he says.

AKA is to be buried on Saturday and a public memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon at the Sandton convention centre in the main city, Johannesburg, his father says.

He began his musical career as part of the rap group Entity before he launched his solo career, winning several awards in South Africa for his music.

He was also celebrated internationally, with several nominations for a Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award in the US and an MTV Europe Music Award.

Hours before his death, the 35-year-old posted on social media about his upcoming album, Mass Country, which is set for release later this month.
